Finance

The Yellow Jacket District is committed to providing our Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venture units with the financial tools necessary to establish long lasting and high quality programs for the youth members.

Tips for Financial Success:
1. Create a unit budget.  This allows the leaders and parents to plan for the expected experiences of program delivery such as uniforms, rank or advancement patches, unit activities, District/ Council events, Summer Camp/ Day Camp and much more.

2. Sell Popcorn and Discount Cards!  These fundraisers the best way to fund a youth member's year of Scouting.

3. Some units collect monthly dues.  This practice allows for a slow steady inflow of funds into the unit budget and will help ease the purse strings of the scout parents.  Also, collecting dues gives the boys a strong sense of ownership in the unit and can help them learn solid financial habits at an early age.

Friends of Scouting
Each Fall, the Yellow Jacket district begins its annual Friends of Scouting (FOS) Family campaign. Friends of Scouting are individuals who include Scouting in their charitable giving on an annual basis.

One of the ways you can help is supporting the Family Friends of Scouting campaign. Starting in the Fall, Packs, Troops, and Crews will be asked to participate in a Family FOS presentation. A representative of the district will come to one of your meetings to talk with parents about the Family FOS campaign. The best time is when you have a majority of your parents in attendance, like a Court of Honor, Blue & Gold Banquet, or a Pack meeting. Each parent should have the opportunity to learn about our operations, and why they should consider making a contribution to support Scouting.
